Know the Different Types

Top Knobs cabinet hardwareThe first step is to familiarize yourself with the various options available. You typically see knobs and pulls on cabinets, but there are so many sizes, shapes and styles. To start, what should you know about the basic hardware categories?

The most basic type of hardware, knobs have many different applications, from small knobs for pull-out bread boards to large knobs for tall cabinets. Knobs are also popular for their simple installation, so any homeowner can switch them out with a single screw.

Handles or Pulls

Cabinet pulls function best with taller, larger cabinets because of their own long shape. They are often used on wood-panel layovers that hide refrigerators and other big appliances. Pulls are mounted with multiple, thicker screws than knobs, but are also easy to install.

Latches & Catches

These two types of hardware are often confused, but have different looks and functions:

Light Pathways

outdoor patio lightingOne of the best parts of summer is more daylight. Although the sun sets later, guests should be able to walk up and down your pathways safely. Create a beautiful footpath that highlights the best features of your landscape, like fresh flowers or new stonework, with path lights, in-ground well lights and more.

Landscape Lighting

Outdoor patios and other seating areas should be well-lit for convenience and security. We have a variety of styles to choose from, including deck lights, step lights and post mount lanterns.

Concerned about running up the electric bill? Low-voltage lighting is an energy-efficient choice for the landscape. All you need is an outdoor GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlet, a large transformer and cables to connect lights.

Connecticut Lighting Transforms a New Haven Restaurant

We are a full-service lighting center for home and business owners! We perform light commercial work and really enjoy lighting restaurants. From the beginning, we get involved with the plans and inspiration, so we can make sure the project turns out as desired. Look and Feel

When creating the look and feel of Sherkaan, we wanted the lighting to be more than a focal point. Our lighting design adds a cool, modern look and feel to this contemporary Indian restaurant in downtown New Haven.

“The lighting is very important in a restaurant because it’s going to set the tone, it’s going to set the mood,” said Sherkaan owner Robert Gross.

The restaurant features strategically placed decorative lighting that accents certain features of the space, which adds to the overall ambience.

Sherkaan has a bicycle theme, so we created a unique setup on the ceiling that incorporates exposed light bulbs with old-style bikes, reminiscent of the streets of India.

I would highly recommend Connecticut Lighting Centers. They do an amazing job. They make sure the job gets done to the desires of the owner.

Many people think of us for residential lighting, but business owners across New England have chosen Connecticut Lighting Centers for their commercial lighting needs. To get started on your next project, contact us today!
